I’ve been involved with music and bands from a teenager. Up until about 6 years ago, was in the Cajun Dawgs - a band with my brother, with whom I shared songwriting duties. When we folded the band, I had loads of songs but no outlet so formed a duo with Jo Church, my wife, and we called ourselves Milton Hide. At first I did all of the songwriting, but latterly Jo has been a contributor with lyrics. We only perform our own original material. My work is very eclectic I would say, drawing influences from folk traditions, rock and indy but my first love is English traditional folk tunes and songs. Many of our songs are story based and when we tour we encourage audience members to add ideas to a book, some of which we have indeed turned into song. We have recently extended this and are in the middle of a year long lottery funded project called Your Stories In Song in which we perform our songs, gather ideas from the audience and attempt to put a verse and chorus together in very short time.
